What are the typical components I will need for a website?
The basic required components needed for any website are the Domain Name (www.something.com), Web Hosting, and the HTML website pages themselves. Optional components include Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC), Online Shopping Carts, and Website Maintenance.
Why do I need Search Engine Optimization?
Search Engine Optimization is an optional, but quite essential component to a web development project. It involves all the steps necessary to give your website the best chance of being indexed by the major search engines in their free (organic) listings for your primary keywords.
How long does it take to develop a website?
The timeframe for developing a website typically varies from 2-6 weeks, and really depends upon the complexity of your site. Some of the factors include the number of pages, custom graphics, generation of text content, etc.
What is a "Web Host" and how much does it cost?
A Web Host refers to the server that holds your live website and allows it to be accessed by users on the internet. We use a very reliable independent web hosting service from Premier Web Hosting for our client's web hosting needs. Basic web hosting plans start at around $60 per year.
What is a "Domain Name" and how much does it cost?
A Domain Name is the internet address that someone types into a web browser to find your website. For instance, the domain name for our business is "premier-web-design.com". Domain names are very inexpensive to purchase, and are approximately $10 per year through our affiliate registration service.
Why do I setup my domain name and web hosting through a third-party?
We specialize in website design. Our affiliate, Premier Web Hosting, specializes in domain name registration and web hosting services, and can offer a much higher level of services and at lower prices. Therefore, we direct our clients to this business for the setup of these administrative services. Additionally, we feel it is advantageous for our clients to own and maintain control their of their own domain names.
Can I use my own hosting if I have you design our website?
Yes. You can certainly use any web hosting service that you like. However, we are most proficient at working with the familiar web hosting service and control panel from Premier Web Hosting. As a result, we do not charge any additional fees to actually facilitate the setup of your hosting and email accounts when using this service provider.
What is "Website Maintenance" and why would I need it?
Website Maintenance is generally needed if your website will require regular updates. Some examples of updates would include: calendar of events, staff biographies, photo gallery pictures, products or services, etc.
What type of payment options are available?
We typically operate on a 50-50 basis. A 50% deposit is due a at the start of the project, and the remaining 50% is due upon completion, prior to final publishing. Our preferred method of payment is by eCheck, but we also accept payment by check, eCheck, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or PayPal for all web design/graphic design services. Additionally, services done through Premier Web Hosting may be paid by credit card, electronic check, or PayPal.
